Happy New Year Friends! This is the time of year when many of us reflect on the past year and begin to make plans for new growth and changes that we want to see in the coming year. I've been watching a series online where the main character is seeing a therapist that has the ability to send her back in time so that she can deal with issues or try to correct past wrongs. Unfortunately we don't get do overs. However, we do get to learn from our past and take that knowledge with us into our future. When we moved to our current home, I had no previous experience with chickens, let alone livestock, but I had the dream to one day have a farm. As a child, I always loved animals and the outdoors and I wanted to be a veterinarian. As an adult, it became very important to me to know my food sources and to grow as much myself as I could for our family. So when we were settled, the first thing we did was plant a large garden and then the cute little fluffy chicks began to arrive. After you have tasted fresh vegetables that you have grown yourself and eaten fresh eggs from your very own chickens, there is no going back my friends! The livestock began to arrive soon after the chickens much to the dismay of some of my family and friends who didn't understand my desire to add more work and commitment to an already busy life. There will always be people that look at your life from the outside and shake their heads and that's ok! This life is fulfilling in so many more ways than I can articulate. My animals bring me peace and unconditional love. Yes there is heartache and frustration, hard work and lots of dirt and poop! At the end of the day, I want to live as much as I can in the days that I have and do the best I can because we don't get any do-overs! We are planning and plotting many exciting things for 2021! Thank you for coming along with us on our journey!
